So, I just came back from a short trip to Houston for a law school interview, and on the way we stopped for gas in a small town in between Lafayette and Baton Rouge. Driving around to the gas stations on either side of the highway, we came across a “live tiger exhibit.” Next to one of the gas stations, there was literally a fully grown tiger pacing back and forth in a cage, sometimes playing with a large ball.

Now I understand the proximity to LSU, and we are the LSU tigers, but still, this is a little much. Any wild animal of that size should 1) not be in a cage and 2) be placed in a much larger exhibit with foliage and places to climb and be tiger-like.

A tiger…in a cage…in the middle of rural Louisiana…no words…
